"The Sayklly tradition actually began in 1906 when Joe Sayklly established a small grocery on the main street of Escanaba, Michigan. To supplement the regular grocery items, Joe used recipes from "the old country" to make ice cream, chocolates and peanut brittle. Sayklly's evolved into an elaborate soda fountain specializing in homemade ice cream and confectioneries that delighted locals and visitors alike. Joe Sayklly's daughters, Marge and Josephine, began managing Sayklly's in 1960. Meticulous attention has been paid to maintaining the "old country" recipes that produce the best chocolates and candies possible. The Sayklly tradition lives on through the work and care of Marge and Jo's niece, Debbie, and her husband, Jim Kirby, who are the third generation owners."
