According to the cooperative charter only chestnut growers are allowed to be members of the cooperative. Being a growers cooperative operated under Michigan laws, Michigan citizens are accepted for membership in the cooperative. Citizens of other states might be accepted into the cooperative pending legal research into the laws of the subject state."
