Michigan has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, leaving Michigan businesses looking for new ways to bring in customers and be more profitable here in this state. Michigan residents are also looking for ways to support Michigan businesses and hence keep jobs in this state. BuyMichiganProducts.com's goal is to help businesses increase sales by making it easier for these customers to find Michigan made products with an online database.

Prior to BuyMichiganProducts.com, there was no comprehensive listing of Michigan companies or Michigan made products online. Due to the size of these companies, most Michiganders haven't even heard of a lot of the businesses in this state. With an accessible list available and a desire to help Michigan stay in business, people can make conscious choices more easily.

Founded by life long Detroit area resident Ryan Anderson and his wife Terri Anderson, BuyMichiganProducts.com was launched on October 18, 2004. Ryan says "The idea really hit me earlier this year, with the announcement of the Greenville Electrolux plant closing. That and being employed in the auto industry, you realize how easily people can lose their jobs these days. What I also realized is that I didn’t even know refrigerators were made in Michigan."

Ryan searched the web for more Michigan made products to align his shopping habits with his decision to do what he can to help keep jobs in Michigan. "After searching the web, I found it wasn't easy to locate products made in Michigan. I can say those Michigan products I have found and purchased have been the best quality. The BuyMichiganProducts.com website was the result of wanting a comprehensive listing of products made in our state, and the ability to share information with my fellow citizens."

Monthly contests will be held for Michigan made products featuring the companies who are sponsors of the site, and will be available to user members of the website. There will also be monthly and seasonal newsletters spotlighting different Michigan companies and their products. With the information available in an easy format to use, Michigan residents can now make these conscious choices to help keep our state in business.

I think this is fabulous!! But, are these businesses all for retail to the smaller customer? Or are some only wholesale? I will support Michigan Co's whenever I can. Keep up the great work!

I found your site on my quest to find Michigan apple juice. Lately I was suprised to discover that most apple juices I was buying for my children were made from foreign country apples, and I live in a state that grows a large amount of apples. I am glad I found the information/brands I was looking for. Thanks for your great information and for supporting Michigan made products.

Just think - If every Michigan citizen supported Michigan Companies we would not have a financial crisis in our state. Our services wouldn't be declining and our taxes wouldn't be increasing. I love your site/products. Lets support Michigan. Joe Kotlinski
